I never knew frozen custard could taste so good. If I had a choice between Cold Stone Creamery and Caliche's, it would be Caliche's hands down. A small custard is more than enough and the custard is super tasty. And Caliche's is not stingy at all with the toppings. Love that. The hot dogs aren't too shabby either.

Oh Caliche's how I miss you! This place is awesome. Sometimes I find myself craving it, but sadly I live to far away. Whenever I am in Cruces, this is one of the places I have to stop. The custard is amazing, there are tons of toppings to choose from, and everything I've ever tasted is delicious. My go to is vanilla custard with hot fudge and salted pecans. Yum!

  • Andrew W.

Was yum. More the place if you want some fancy type thing with candy or a banana split or mix of fruits or something. "Layers" someone else called it. If you aren't into building your own monster the custard stands on it's own as pretty decent.

I'm from El Paso and every time I come to Cruces I have to make a stop here. My favorite is the Blue Hawaiian but for the most part I have enjoyed all of them. Yum :)

This place provided us very tasty treats on an extremely hot day. While visiting Las Cruces, we decided to get a cold snack. This location reminds me of how the classic ice cream stands used to look. Big windows, nice staff, and a very 50's kind of look to it. Apparently, it's been here for a while, and I can see why. We decided to try a few things. There are a lot of toppings to choose from, as well as add ins, so it does take a while to figure out what's best. They also had a few sandwiches and hotdogs, but we had custard on the mind. We got the strawberry shortcake with vanilla frozen custard, and two scoops of vanilla mixed with fresh blueberries, cheesecake, and almonds. Both concoctions hit the spot. The strawberries had a great sweetness, to go with fresh sponge cake and whip cream. The custard made the dish. Definitely sized to share if you don't have an extremely large appetite. The other had two scoops of custard with so many flavorful blueberries, fresh almonds, and cheese cake in a nice mix. it made for a perfect treat. The service was extremely friendly, and they even have pup cones if you bring your dog. Kind of a cute concept. There is a drive through as well. There isn't a ton of seating, so either pick a cooler time of day, or get there early enough for the carports that block the sun. Overall, I'd recommend this place and I think it's worth trying. I know I'll be back on my next visit to Las Cruces.

Simple enough. Chocolate or vanilla custard with toppings right....or so you think. There are SO many options it can be a little overwhelming. My advice, have an idea of what you want before you get there so you can lessen your options. The flavor is delish! Got the chocolate custard in a waffle bowl with "mint chip." Walk up and order, then enjoy!

  • Lily W.

The workers always have something friendly or funny to say to me and of course the custard is wonderful! Caliche's also carries exotic meals and snacks in case you'd like more than one of the many flavors of custard.

  • Justin P.

This place is amazing, there ice cream is really creamy and good. It is a little pricy but the price is good. My son got a coconut tea and it was really good!

Chipotle cherry sundae was tasty, but I may need insulin.

  • Maureen K.

I'm not usually a fan of frozen custard, but this place goes to the top of my rather short list. The custard is creamy and flavorful and the service is friendly. The "small" cup is the equivalent of two large scoops, and goes down beautifully. Spouse had a Sunday with hot fudge and caramel with salted pecans - turned out to be huge (next time we will share) and delicious. The evening was cool, so we ate in the car - total decadence. There is obviously a lot of frozen custard in our future!

    (4)
  • Lilliane N.

Customer service is good. The frozen custard is really delicious. However the toppings are of low quality. You can tell their cherries (and possibly strawberries as well) are from cans. The nuts are good and you don't get enough of the syrup. It can get pricy if you're a foodie like me and like additional toppings.

Lived in Las Cruces a number of years ago and came here for the Green Chile Sundae. Coming back from Maryland for a visit in a couple of weeks. One of the first things will be to head to Caliche's for a Green Chile Sundae. CAn't wait!

Used Yelp to find this place as I was from out of town and wanted to find a good ice cream/frozen custard type place near the hotel I was staying at. Lucked out on this pick. I had the bananna/strawberry/roasted pecan swirl. It was fantastic! The frozen custard was creamy and delicious. The roasted salted pecans really balanced out the sweet with the salty. Great experience, great product. Highly recommend.

Mount Brownie was huge. My daughter gave it a 5. It came out fast. Apple pie ala mode cam eout slow slow slow, but the staff was nice about it.

  • Cherlyn B.

I was skeptical about this place but was pleasantly surprised it was so bomb. I had the straw Anna loved it. I highly recommend if your ever in the area.

  • Chris G.

Every time I'm in town. I actually find myself looking forward to business trips to Cruces or Alamogordo! My choice is cashew and coconut, but you're sure to have your own. Yum!

  • John G.

Mango Dango! Heck yeah! Absolutely love this place!

    (5)
  • Maylynn P.

Great variations of frozen custard! I love the strawberry cheesecake. I have never been disappointed. Their service is very fast and their restaurant is very clean. I've never been to the location in S. Valley, but I've been to the one at Road Runner and it is a great location. I recommend trying this before leaving Las Cruces especially since theres only three locations of Caliche's!

    (5)
  • Kimberly R.

Visiting New Mexico and I was told to try this place. I've never have frozen custard before and now I need to find a place like this in California! I had the chocolate ice cream with marshmallows & pecans! Delicious!! Kind of pricey though because it was around $7-8 for a cup.

    (5)
  • Lauren T.

Every time I am in Las Cruces, I always want to stop and get me some Caliche's! Either location is great with friendly staff and the great same custard I have loved for years! No matter what ice cream creation you choose, you cannot go wrong! I love the classic Gizmo or even creating my own creation! (They have every topping you could imagine!) As for the food they sell there, I have tried the hot dogs and love them! They even always have a great lunch deal! basically either a buy one get one free hot dog or two hot dogs and a soda for 5 dollars. Can't beat that! Even if you could, the taste wins out. My favorite is the Frito dog. Dear Caliche's, if you ever wish to franchise, I would love one in Tucson, AZ! More like I need one in Tucson!

    (5)
  • Ella M.

I always have to stop by and have a Straw-Ana with some chocolate syrup! The frozen custard is super smooth and perfect for a warm summer night in New Mexico! HUGE variety of toppings and you can mix them up any way you'd like!

    (5)
  • Chris R.

Maybe it is because I am not local, but man, what a disappointment. A friend and I were coming through town and after reading all of the amazing reviews, we were very excited to try this place. Dairy Queen. We were eating Dairy Queen. Bland, fake, Dairy Queen. Not this amazing custard everyone spoke of so highly. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing. Who knows. I bought a plain chocolate scoop, she bought a plain vanilla. I might give it another try, as the prices were good, but I really was expecting more.

    (2)
  • Amanda H.

This place is DELISH! The reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because sometimes the (high school) workers aren't as nice as you would expect them to be...but thats about it. The service is fast and the food/ice cream is to die for. What I love: Hot dogs: I love the nacho dog with nacho cheese and jalepenos....they're nathans hot dogs which as my absolute fave! They have a special where they're buy one get one free during lunch hours in the week. Such a steal! Ice Cream: You can't go wrong with two scoops of vanilla ice cream with cookie dough crumbles. I have seriously ordered that since I was 8 years old. Now that I'm living a college lifestyle, nothing beats that for the price. I have also tried the banana split with is good but slightly pricey. I'm frugal haha. Great place for a date! PLUS, you can take your dogs :)

    (4)
  • Kristin O.

Yum! The frozen custard, the caliches especially (the Blizzard-like concoctions that you can pack with an assortment of flavors--syrups, candies, cookies, fruit, etc., even a New Mexico favorite, green chile), is fantastic. A perfect treat!

    (5)
  • Tai H.

Ahhhh Caliches is just so good! Every thing is great from plain custard to a ham croissant! My favorite is definitely the Gizmo...tons of Hot fudge and Caramel.... if they ask how you would like your nuts... don't say "Held", they dont like that.

    (5)
  • Diana G.

This is by far the best ice cream (custard)made. I am completely spoiled for any other kind of ice cream now. Great service. Clean and spotless. I am always amazed when I go here the consistency and quality of the experience and food here. Chocolate custard with chocolate chips is the bomb! Drive thru or park and walk up. Don't forget to bring the dog as they have doggy cones!

    (5)
  • Abigail H.

How can this place not get 5 stars? This place has great custard and some summer foods like hot dogs and corn dogs. They pretty much have every topping imaginable. Right now they have a coconut smoothie which is amazing. So if you have a sweet tooth this is the perfect place :)

    (5)
  • Lauren D.

Clearly an amazing local gem. Looks the smallest bit tacky while you drive up, but the employees are great and the frozen custard is amazing.

    (5)
  • Larry P.

Great place to stop for some ice cream. Had the Hot Fudge Sunday with salted peanuts! Yum! Lot's of other selections to choose from. Was quiet when we pulled up, but was swarming after I yelped...

    (4)
  • Kimberly F.

Had soft serve custard that was amazing! Never had custard before and theirs definitely set the bar for any future experiences. Custard was super creamy and delicious. Topped it with salted pecans and some Reese cups. Wish I lived closer so I could frequent this place!

    (5)
  • H.L. S.

What a treat! Who could have thought that a "Green Chile Sundae" is so delicious? I sure didn't. It was excellent, and the young man behind the counter was very nice. I'll be back next time I'm in LC.

  • Albert K.

I'm a Frozen Custard (FroCu?) lover and I'm not ashamed to admit it. The problem is, I've yet to find a purveyor in El Paso, apparently there was a place, but it was closed down by the time I arrived, so whenever I go to Las Cruces, I've gots to get a fix! Their FroCu is pretty darn good, thick and rich and creamy. They offer a ton of toppings, but I enjoy the vanilla plain and simple. Matter of fact, I've never tried anything else here, the plain FroCu is enough for me to love it!

  • Nish B.

UPDATE - just bc it's a chain and heads up from what happened and was witnessed at the Roadrunner location. I wrote: But if I ever go again, I will not go to the drive through. FYI - my sister and I went up and ordered at the windows..standing there, someone in the drive through asked for some smoothie or drink or whatever it was. The chick inside who was working, filled it too much to the top and SLURPED IT FROM THAT CUP..THEN PROCEEDED TO COVER IT WITH A LID. WTF?! JUST HEADS UP IF YOU EVER GO THROUGH DRIVE THROUGH AND CANNOT SEE WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Yeah, all caps because that was disgusting to see. Where are the hygiene manners, people. GROSS.

    (1)
  • LisanJoe M.

Nice treat with Many different choices! We brought the dogs along and they loved it too! The drive through was a bit different and there was not parking out front.

    (4)
  • Terrie M.

Ordered apple pie A l mode and I have to say it's the best desert I've ever had. Staff was friendly and excited to wait on you. Order was ready with 3 minutes. I will be back before leaving area. Would recommend all to go there.

Local frozen custard spot, very friendly staff let us sample their green chile sundae! Unexpectedly tasty, if you're feeling adventurous give it a try! If not strawberry is always a classic :)

Best dessert spot in town! If you're feeling stressed, depressed, or just need to get your sweet tooth satisfied then you need to try a Caliche today!

  • Ingrid T.

I can see why this place is a local institution. Probably just as well we don't have it in Albuquerque or I'd be going all the time! I had the regular size Fudge Brownie Bliss with some added salted pecans. Totally delicious but should've gotten the small as the regular was too much for me. You can eat your order in your car or you can sit on some benches on the side of Caliche's, which is great in warm weather.

    (5)
  • Angie C.

Nice treat on a hot summer day! Caliche's not only has a drive-thru window but also has covered places to park and benches to eat on. I wasn't sure if I've had frozen custard in my life, so we went through the drive-in at Caliche's Frozen Custard while we were driving through New Mexico. Quite tasty! For $4.87 (15 cents cheaper for a small), you get a full regular cup of custard. My sister got the regular frocust with whipped cream, and I got the "sand box" - oreos smashed into the frozen custard along with fudge and a gummy worm on top. Hilarious.

If you're ever within a 100-mile radius of Las Cruces, you MUST go to Caliche's. Simply the best frozen custard EVER! I've been tempted several times to try their hot dogs, but I'm not a big fan of Nathans dogs. I was devastated when they closed their location on the west side of El Paso. Now I have to drive 30 miles to Las Cruces to get my fix.

    (5)
  • Andrew R.

This place is great! I have never had a bad experience here! The worst experience I have ever had there was the guy convinced me to try the green chili ice cream and I wasn't fond of it. If that is the worst they can do then they are great!

  • Michele G.

Love it but only on occasion due to the calories & fat

To start, I am die hard Ted Drewes Custard fan in St. Louis, MO. Seeing Caliches right away brought back my fond memories of Ted Drewes. Unfortunately that also made my expectations too high. We stopped here for a sweet treat after dinner and do not regret what we had (Pumpkin Caliche, Mount Brownie, and a Hot Fudge Sundae with salter pecans). The salted pecans are an amazing touch! I just had a hard time tasting the custardy flavor that I like which differentiates the frozen treat from ice cream. All in all I would stop there for another treat.

    In one word AWESOME

    (5)
  • Mark N.

This is just amazing!!! Frozen custard is a wonderful thing which does not exist in many parts of the country, and the owners of this outfit have it mastered!!!.. Ate here many times in my several years as a denizen of Las Cruces.. If you are visiting New Mexico, this is definitely worth going out of your way for!

  • Neil S.

This custard stand in Las Cruces has an amazing choice of concoctions. The chocolate and vanilla frozen custard can be the beginning of some interesting treats, as they layer in fruit, nuts, and syrups. I had the Gizmo which is custard (I had chocolate) with hot fudge, caramel sauce and salted pecans. A very sweet treat indeed. There are dozens of other choices and you can make up your own too. That said, the frozen custard wasn't the best I'd ever had. That would be Freddy's in the Kansas City area- but of course, that's thousands of miles away. The service was fast and friendly. They also have hot dogs and other dinner items. If you are fan of frozen desserts, you owe yourself a visit.

    (5)
  • Ashleigh Q.

Amazingly delicious custard, a HUGE variety, yummy hotdogs, fast service, and friendly people working there. It's rare to find places like this, so make sure you stop by!

  • Kelsey K.

Oh, the nostalgia... Standing on Valley drive in the scorching evening heat savoring my vanilla with fresh strawberries or my Gizmo. YUM. You can't say anything bad about this place. It's a southern NM establishment and, unlike many, it deserves the accolades. It almost makes me want to go back and visit more than once every 4 years. It will always be Scoopy's to me though! :-(

    (5)
  • A R.

Oh Scoopy's. You will never be Caliche's to me. I guess they had a legal battle over the name when someone else claimed to be the first Scoopy's, so they ended up changing it. Freaking great custard. Get the salted or the unsalted, I love them both. Lots of options for toppings, fresh fruit and syrups. But you really don't need much on top of the custard since it's so good by itself. I can never eat more than a small- which is pretty damn large. Go to the older location on Valley- it's got covered drive-in parking and is more fun anyway.

    (5)
  • Stephanie D.

I learned about frozen custard at the feet of Culvers in the midwest. As a Californian I don't really have access to it, so when we visit family in Las Cruces, we're always sure to stop here and get our fix.

Importantly: Caliches has two locations, one on Valley and one sort of near the corner of Foothill and Roadrunner, across from Mountain View hospital. The latter location is closer to what is rapidly becoming the center of town. Caliches will be one of the only things in Las Cruces to rate five stars from me. I rarely go there because I am sure that their frozen custard is fattening as hell; but it is just heavenly. My favorite thing is custard with some kind of pie mixed in--apple and pumpkin are two that I've seen. AFAIK the custard comes in two flavors, vanilla and chocolate, but Caliches also has "desert ice," which is a sherbet-like thing (only better). That comes in flavors like Mango, Passionfruit, Strawberry, Horchata, etc. Rounding out Caliches' menu are smoothies (new) and hot dogs, neither of which I have ever had. If you go to the Caliches location up by the hospital on a summer night, it's a big old wonderful shmoozefest, with kids running around, people bringing their dogs for the free doggy cones, etc. There are outdoor benches to sit on but no indoor tables or bathrooms. I can't say enough about this place and it was a fave of mine back when it was still Scoopys.

    Really great frozen treats!!

  • Andrea G.

Oh I love this place so much!! Had to stick with The Gizmo sundae, unsalted pecans. The staff, even though they're younger kids, all were extremely polite and courteous with excellent customer service skills. The place was always clean in appearance. We loved this place so much we made a special stop for a sundae while passing through on I-10 when we moved across the US.

  • Chris J.

Yum! This is frozen custard at its finest. I'm originally from Wisconsin, the dairy state, and know what good custard tastes like... Caliches is Copps' brother. Caliche's custard is a creamy, sensational delight of yummy goodness. We tried the banana split and the hot fudge & carmel sundae... both very good and the prices are so reasonable. The bill came to less than $7 for both treats. The customer service is great and even though the line was 15 people deep when we arrived, we were served within 10 minutes... Very, very satisfied. Definitely 5 stars!

    (5)
  • Trent H.

First experience with frozen custard and it certainly did not disappoint.

    (4)
  • Deanna G.

Definitely as good as it gets. I've never had frozen custard as good as Caliche's. I no longer live in Las Cruces, but I go to Caliches MULTIPLE times each time I visit!

    (5)
  • Scott J.

Still great, and I really enjoy going here, but it seems the servings have gotten a little smaller lately.

    (5)
  • Kat S.

It's ice cream. Okay it's frozen custard (only a technical difference). Lots of it. Drive up and hang out or drive through and go on your way. This ice cream shop is delicious. You can't really go wrong with ice cream anyway, but this local chain gives great portions, nice variety, and great prices. The milkshakes are just as good as the sundaes. If you are driving through town, there are two locations. One is older and maybe a little less "nice," but perhaps a bit more highway friendly (on Valley Dr).

    (4)
  • Dan G.

Caliches is another must-stop in LC Best frozen custard I've ever had. I had vanilla custard with hot fudge and salted pecans and dizzamn was it good! The pie a la mode was a legit pie with custard which is really cool. We love the free doggie cone (as did our dog) and that alone is probably worth it.

    (5)
  • Tony M.

I love the Chocolate Custard and always have it with whatever I get there. I have tried their sandwiches before and liked it as well. I wish there was place to sit inside when the weather is not to nice.

    (4)
  • Brian P.

The custard is the best around! We don't go a lot, because it just seems soooo sinful and indulgent, but for a rare treat, it's great. My wife likes the custard with strawberries and kiwi. Expect a wait on a hot Saturday night after sundown.

    (5)
  • Harold S.

None better! I travel the country and I stop at custard stands whenever I see one. This place is the best hands down! If you want a chocolate lovers dream, get the Gizmo!

I'm going to keep this SIMPLE. This state, this "enchanted" land is best known for three "GREAT" things. and ONLY these three things are what truly define the greatness of this often forgotten land between Texas (ewww) and Arizona. number 3: A-Bombs number 2: Green Chili number 1: Caliche's Richardson would win a vice-president ticket if only he gave Obama a "Sand-Box" Recommendation: the Sand Box. best of both confectionery goodness, Hot Fudge and Gummy Worm. This place is LITERALLY the best Las Cruces has to offer! period. (or exclamation point)

Ok, I'm confused--I'm from Atlanta so perhaps I'm spoiled with our massive numbers of custard, yogurt, ice cream, etc. shops. The custard isn't bad, but selection is somewhat slim (for me at least). They are heavy on the syrup to the point of icy style. so if you are not into that, ask them to go easy. The staff is quit friendly and the amount they give is really nice for the price.

I do alot of advance research for our trips,so it's rare that I just stumble onto a great restaurant or drive in. But Scoopy's was a complete surprise. Just driving around town one evening,I happened to see that everybody and his brother were parked outside this little drive in,and I soon found out why. Frozen custard,so cold and creamy and delicious, and so hard to find these days. But not in Las Cruces. Scoopy's will always be favorite memory of my brief visit here.

Caliche's is the best!!!! Love their frozen custard. Love their hot dogs. Love their flavored teas and lemonades. I recommend the chili dog and a Gizmo.

I'm an ice cream freak. When I discovered that there was a drive thru completely devoted to serving frozen custard, I had to try it. No joke...this stuff is to die for. I've been in Las Cruces for about 10 days now and I've been back to Caliche's 3 times already. I've ordered the Rocky Road (chocolate custard, marshmallow topping with fresh toasted almonds) which was enough to get me addicted. They have every flavor you can think of. The menu is a bit intimidating since there are so many options so I recommend asking the employees what the best combos are. We also tried Brownie Bliss with real chunks of moist brownies (which surprisingly are able to stay moist in the frozen custard instead of freezing into a hard substance like any typical brownie ice cream). Delicious! They're pretty popular in Las Cruces, formerly called Scoopy's...there's been a line everytime I've been in the drive thru. They serve at lightning speed though. The staff is always welcoming and seem to be happy working there which is always a plus.

Caliche's is one of the best things about Las Cruces, I swear to you! I've been known to go by the one up on Roadrunner (even though I'm reviewing the Valley location) after work and not buy a hotdog for dinner but, oh yes, the Gizmo with unsalted pecans! Hot fudge and caramel over vanilla custard and crunchy nuts with a cherry on top! The Valley location is a little more old fashioned and quaint, just watch out for the mosquitos in the summer time as it sits right next to an irrigation ditch. That has, however, never stopped me or my companions from sitting outside on the bench and enjoying our cool rich treat while watching the cars drive down Valley and the sun set, casting a purplish hue on the Organs...what's better than that on a summer afternoon? Another favorite is the Italian Soda with frozen custard, really refreshing as well as delicious and creamy! You CANNOT go to LC without stopping by!

There are only a few things I miss about the town I went to college in. The sunsets, the good green chile, a burrito from the Santa Fe Grill, and Caliche's. Oh Caliche's... this is less a review and more an ode to your greatness. The custard is delicious and truly unique. This is not ice cream. This is not soft-serve. This is not a milk shake. It is a cup of tasty vanilla (or chocolate) goodness. In the fall they get exotic with a pumpkin Caliche. Mmm. My favorite is the Straw-Anna, with strawberries and bananas. I also enjoyed the Kiwi Berry, with strawberries, kiwis, whipped cream and a cherry on top. But really I could eat anything on the menu. Twice. You can also do a Create-Your-Own and choose from their large selection of fruit, candy and other goodies. When my hyperactive little sister visited, I encouraged her to create her own, with chocolate custard, hot fudge, and M&M's. Then I watched her hover a few feet off the ground, truly a child in refined sugar heaven. This was the perfect place to be on a boiling hot Saturday night, and totally worth the line that always forms. Bring your doggy and he can have his very own doggy cone; it's great fun to watch happy doggies slurp ice cream along with their owners. Order one up and think for just a moment (right when the brain freeze hits, perhaps) of those who were foolish enough to move more than 30 minutes away from Caliche's, and then laugh in delicious triumph.

Yet another 5 star review. I got the vanilla custard two scoop in a waffle cone. 1 scoop is about the size of a racketball ball. I probably could have gotten a third scoop. Very fresh, good consistency (firm), and very tasty. Definitely stop by here if you're driving through on I-10. A drive through frozen custard shop is a cool idea, although we parked and walked up.

I learned about frozen custard at the feet of Culvers in the midwest. As a Californian I don't really have access to it, so when we visit family in Las Cruces, we're always sure to stop here and get our fix.

I love the Chocolate Custard and always have it with whatever I get there. I have tried their sandwiches before and liked it as well. I wish there was place to sit inside when the weather is not to nice.

Yum! The frozen custard, the caliches especially (the Blizzard-like concoctions that you can pack with an assortment of flavors--syrups, candies, cookies, fruit, etc., even a New Mexico favorite, green chile), is fantastic. A perfect treat!

  • Jesse S.

Yum!

    (5)
  • Andrew W.

Was yum. More the place if you want some fancy type thing with candy or a banana split or mix of fruits or something. "Layers" someone else called it. If you aren't into building your own monster the custard stands on it's own as pretty decent.

  • Mariana M.

I'm from El Paso and every time I come to Cruces I have to make a stop here. My favorite is the Blue Hawaiian but for the most part I have enjoyed all of them. Yum :)

How can this place not get 5 stars? This place has great custard and some summer foods like hot dogs and corn dogs. They pretty much have every topping imaginable. Right now they have a coconut smoothie which is amazing. So if you have a sweet tooth this is the perfect place :)

  • Sara B.

  • Tai H.

Ahhhh Caliches is just so good! Every thing is great from plain custard to a ham croissant! My favorite is definitely the Gizmo...tons of Hot fudge and Caramel.... if they ask how you would like your nuts... don't say "Held", they dont like that.

  • Andrew R.

This place is great! I have never had a bad experience here! The worst experience I have ever had there was the guy convinced me to try the green chili ice cream and I wasn't fond of it. If that is the worst they can do then they are great!

Had soft serve custard that was amazing! Never had custard before and theirs definitely set the bar for any future experiences. Custard was super creamy and delicious. Topped it with salted pecans and some Reese cups. Wish I lived closer so I could frequent this place!

What a treat! Who could have thought that a "Green Chile Sundae" is so delicious? I sure didn't. It was excellent, and the young man behind the counter was very nice. I'll be back next time I'm in LC.

    (5)

GROSS.

Hilarious.

Visiting New Mexico and I was told to try this place. I've never have frozen custard before and now I need to find a place like this in California! I had the chocolate ice cream with marshmallows & pecans! Delicious!! Kind of pricey though because it was around $7-8 for a cup.

Visiting New Mexico and I was told to try this place. I've never have frozen custard before and now I need to find a place like this in California! I had the chocolate ice cream with marshmallows & pecans! Delicious!! Kind of pricey though because it was around $7-8 for a cup.

Hilarious.

I always have to stop by and have a Straw-Ana with some chocolate syrup! The frozen custard is super smooth and perfect for a warm summer night in New Mexico! HUGE variety of toppings and you can mix them up any way you'd like!

Yum!

  • Matthew W.

Yum! The frozen custard, the caliches especially (the Blizzard-like concoctions that you can pack with an assortment of flavors--syrups, candies, cookies, fruit, etc., even a New Mexico favorite, green chile), is fantastic. A perfect treat!

Lived in Las Cruces a number of years ago and came here for the Green Chile Sundae. Coming back from Maryland for a visit in a couple of weeks. One of the first things will be to head to Caliche's for a Green Chile Sundae. CAn't wait!

    (5)
  • Andrew W.

Was yum. More the place if you want some fancy type thing with candy or a banana split or mix of fruits or something. "Layers" someone else called it. If you aren't into building your own monster the custard stands on it's own as pretty decent.

Customer service is good. The frozen custard is really delicious. However the toppings are of low quality. You can tell their cherries (and possibly strawberries as well) are from cans. The nuts are good and you don't get enough of the syrup. It can get pricy if you're a foodie like me and like additional toppings.

GROSS.

The workers always have something friendly or funny to say to me and of course the custard is wonderful! Caliche's also carries exotic meals and snacks in case you'd like more than one of the many flavors of custard.

Ahhhh Caliches is just so good! Every thing is great from plain custard to a ham croissant! My favorite is definitely the Gizmo...tons of Hot fudge and Caramel.... if they ask how you would like your nuts... don't say "Held", they dont like that.

How can this place not get 5 stars? This place has great custard and some summer foods like hot dogs and corn dogs. They pretty much have every topping imaginable. Right now they have a coconut smoothie which is amazing. So if you have a sweet tooth this is the perfect place :)

This place is great! I have never had a bad experience here! The worst experience I have ever had there was the guy convinced me to try the green chili ice cream and I wasn't fond of it. If that is the worst they can do then they are great!
